By: Tremell Parker; Google IgniteCS Lead Mentor at Google Spring 2017 Capstone Project As a member of the West Mecklenburg High School Career Academy, I participated as a Mentor to a group of students under the direction of Social Studies Teacher, Raymond Beamon. Learning Objective was for the students to create a graduate level poster presentation on the various economic impact of NC House Bill 2. Student focus was on the business, hospitality, and tourism industry in the greater Charlotte area. Working in small teams, the students focused on various subtopics of the overall project. Due to HB2, how has the lost of economic investment effected potential economic opportunities was the essential question? I am pleased to confirm the student presentations were extraordinary.
The students were dressed professionally with presentations that confirmed their research that was additionally well articulated. The posters were visually appealing as shown by the attached photos. Congratulations to Mr. Beamon and Academy students. The presentations took place on May 9th.
